Devika Rao invites you to a sharing of YAA DEVI

YAA DEVI is an intense research piece developed by Devika Rao and supported by Arts Council England.

There will be a formal sharing of the work on

Thursday 10th April, 2.30pm @ Yorkshire Dance, Leeds.

Followed by an informal discussion facilitated by Sarah Shead, Spin Arts Management.

Friday 11th April,2.30pm @ Yorkshire Dance, Leeds.

A performance on

Sunday 13 April, 4.00pm @ mac, Birmingham.

This research piece explores the notion that classical Indian dances can be made more accessible through contemporary narratives without diluting the purity of classical dance vocabulary. Grounded within the theme of women empowerment, her work will explore the roles of women in traditional and contemporary societies.

This sharing piece is developed with team of professional artists Piali Ray, Chitraleka Bolar, Praveen D Rao, Katie Ryan, Manuela Benini, Prem Rai, Anindita

and dance development organisations Yorkshire Dance and Sampad.
