Yakshagana

Yakshagana of the coastal belt of Karnataka is a folk art form dating back to the 15th century. It is a spirited theater presentation of epic episodes in scenes of song, dance and costumes, although secular themes can also be sometimes witnessed. Elements of music, dance, mime, costumes and dialogue, finely blended make Yakshagana a vibrant living theater.

Devika is a dedicated Yakshagana artiste whose prowess has been beholden in her scintillating performance on the guidance of Venkatramana Ital, Kolur Ramachandra Rao, Girish Navada, Devika has been pursuing this exquisite folk form for 20 years now.
